2024 and only now I get to read this amazing article! Thank you.
I came across it by asking google “whatever happened to Jeff’s record collection?” I knew about the collection, saw it on a very old TV interview.
I never knew the man but I saw him play live numerous times.
Every show I saw was at the outdoor (covered) amphitheater that used to be at Ontario Place. Great sound there.
At the time I was probably around 16, and I would hang out there daily throughout summer months. I watched many daylight practice sessions (by many artists) and often stayed for their evening performances.
I wouldn’t have missed one of Jeff’s shows for anything.
I remember cameras at one of those shows…I wonder if I made it into the video?
Youtube, here I come.
Oh and thanks again for an article that brought a tear to my eyes. Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray and Jeff Healey. Imagine that jam in heaven.

Well written Mike, and while I never got as close to Jeff as you did, my time spent with him is very valuable to me. I do remember that day that you guys went to check out the 78 collection, I think it was in Renfrew or something as we were playing the Ottawa Exhibition that night. It was the night before this picture was taken. Thanks for the memories!

Mike, Thank You So Much for that. Pete and I witnessed exactly that on McCaul St. when Jeff would ask us to pick out an album from his huge collection. Using his right hand, he’d rub a label and or album and tell us what album it was. I still get vibes from that today. Merry Xmas all!!!!

Thanx for reminiscing. I like getting a window into this guy, as I only knew him from the one album I own..”See the Light”. Hopefully the 78 rpms you did digitize were his favorites.
